Stammtisch at the Seniorentreff

Coffee and Dougnuts - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / FatseyevaThe Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a Stammtisch on Friday, 26th June, 2014 between 5pm and 8.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).

The Stammtisch is a place to discuss anything and everything that those attending wish to.

This month the World Cup game USA v Germany will be shown during the Stammtisch with food and drink provided for, however there will be a charge of €7 per person and places can be reserved by calling 06171 585333.

Zumba with Maxima at Café Portstrasse

Zumba with Maxima“Girls only” is the motto at Café Portstrasse on Sunday, 29th June, 2014 with not only the café open from 3pm until 6pm, but also a one-hour Zumba workshop with Maxima at 3pm.

The workshop is free for girls to take part in and comfortable clothing is recommended.

Energy saving advice

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

 

3,000 step walk for senior citizens in Stierstadt

To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.

Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 24th June, 2014, we are told that it will be a “coming of age film”. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 9pm.

The Feldbergbrunnen

Saturday (14th June, 2014) saw the dedication of the new Feldberg Fountain (“Feldbergbrunnen”) take place in the grounds of the Hohe Mark clinic.

The ceremony saw the fountain queen, Carolyn II., pour a small amount of cider over the fountain.

The fountain is made from a piece of Taunus Quartzite that came from a quarry in Mammolshain, part of Königstein.  Not only was the stone cut in half to make the fountain, but 50cm of it is actually below ground.

 

Where is Kusadasi?

An information evening for young people entitled “Where is Kusadasi?” is being held at Café Portstraße on Wednesday, 18th June, 2014 at 4pm.

Kasadasi is a town in Turkey which has friendly relations with Oberursel.  Savas Kötkas will be talking about the town, the country and the culture.

There will also be a chance to try some Turkish specialities.

A tour of Camp King

The Kinderhaus - previously Haus Florida, Haus 997, Haus am Wald and Außerhalb 7 - now Jean-Sauer-Weg 2On Saturday, 21st June, 2014 there will be a tour of the area in Oberursel known as “Camp King” with local town guide Silvia Struck.

The tour covers the history of the area from the Reichssiedlungshof in the 1930s, through the time of the Dulag Luft up to the end of the U.S. Army presence in the town.

The meeting point is at the “Kinderhaus” in the Jean-Sauer-Weg at 2pm, and the tour costs 3EUR.

This is an interesting opportunity for local residents to learn more about the history of the area that they live in.

Flea Market in the Adenauerallee

Flea Market - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / photoflorenzoThe monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will take place on Saturday, 21st June, 2014 between 7am and 1pm.

The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.

To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.
