Frankfurter Landstraße re-opened
The Frankfurter Landstraße was re-opened in both directions yesterday.
The new lane that leads to the Edeka store which is being built there will remain closed until the traffic lights have been upgraded.
TaunusDisco for over 40s at Tanzschule Pritzer
A disco for over 40s is being held under the name of “TaunusDisco” in the dance school “Tanzschule Pritzer” in the old station building on Saturday 18th August, 2012.
The music will be a mixture of current music such as “funk” and “soul”, and also some lesser-known pieces such as World Music, all mixed by DJ Param.
Entry is from 9pm and costs 8 Euro.

Energy saving advice
The Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 16th August, 2012 between 2pm and 6pm.
Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.
3,000 step walk for senior citizens
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering a 3,000 step walk on Wednesday, 15th August, 2012.
To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.
3,000 step walk for senior citizens in Stierstadt
A 3,000 step walk for senior citizens is being organised in Stierstadt bei Hedi Madl and Herbert Aulbach on Tuesday, 14th August, 2012.
To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.
Märchentag at the Maize Maze
The Maislabyrinth – a maze made out of maize – will be holding a Märchentag (fairy tale day) on Sunday, 12th August 2012.
On this day, a Märchenerzähler, a story reader will be visiting the maze and reading to children.
The maze itself from 11am until dusk. Entry costs €2.50 for adults, €2 for children aged 10 to 16 and €1.50 for children aged 4 to 9.
To get there by car, travel to the edge of Weißkirchen on the road to Steinbach. There is a track off the road near the yellow “Oberursel Stadtteil Weißkirchen” sign leading towards Frankfurt (ie. left if you have just driving through Weißkirchen, right if you are coming from Steinbach). The maze is about 200m along this track.
If you are coming by train, the nearest station “Weißkirchen-Steinbach” is on the S5 line between Frankfurt and Bad Homburg.

Steam trains
The Dampfbahnclub-Taunus e.V. steam railway in Oberursel will be open to the public on Sunday, 12th August, 2012 between 10am and 5pm.
Located at the end of the Mainstraße, entry costs €1,50€ for adults and €0,50 for children. Children receive one ticket to go on the trains in the entry price, additional tickets are €0,50 each.
To get there, either leave the A661/B455 at “Oberursel-Nord” towards Oberursel, then take the first turning right into the Dornbachstraße. The Mainstraße is on the right-hand side.
By U-Bahn, take the U3 to Lahnstraße and cross the road before turning left into the Dornbachstraße.

Donate Blood
Blood can be donated at the Red Cross in Oberursel on Saturday, 11th August, 2012 between 1.30pm and 6pm. The Red Cross is located at Marxstraße 28, opposite the U-Bahn station “Lahnstraße”.
To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.
