Turn right onto the tracks…

One Mercedes driver showed a little too much trust in her satellite navigation equipment on Friday evening (29th November, 2013).

At the corner of the Hohemarkstraße and Kupferhammerweg, the voice said “turn right”, and turn she did, without realising that the Kuperhammerweg starts 20 metres away on the other side of the U-Bahn tracks.

Instead she turned right onto the tracks, grounding the car.

Trains were halted whilst the car was towed back onto the road.  The car was slightly damaged but no-one was hurt.

Car hit traffic lights on the Hohemarkstraße

Health problems were apparently the cause of an accident that took place on the Hohemarkstraße on Tuesday, 10th September, 2013 at 5pm.

The driver of a BMW X5 lost control of their vehicle on the section of the road near the Kupferhammerweg where the U-Bahn tracks cross it, hitting the pole of the traffic lights which caused the entire traffic light array to stop working.

The driver was slightly injured, police and railway staff controlled the traffic until a replacement set of lights could be installed.  The damage is estimated at around €20,000.

British citizen taken in by police in the Kupferhammerweg

A 28-year-old British citizen of no fixed abode (in Germany, at least) was seen “going on the rampage” as police put it in front of a block of flats in the Kupferhammerweg on Saturday, 17th May, 2013.

When police tried to establish his identity the man tried to stop them by pulling on the jacket of one of the officers and pushing her away.

As a result of his agressive behaviour and resistance to comply he was taken into police custody.
