The “Open Air Living Room 4Rooms” at the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” (previously called Portstraße) played host to an open air party for the young people of Oberursel on Thursday evening, 29th November 2012.

The organisations Café Portstraße, Kinderhaus Camp King, Jugendtreff Oberstedten, along with the town’s youth office (Jugendbüro) and mobile youth service joined forces to offer twists, punch, sausages and music free of charge with around 30 young people from different parts of the town turning up.

Open-air Theatre 2012: Jedermann

The open-air theatre in Oberursel, the “Theater im Park”, is now in its third year at the “new” location in the grounds of the Hohe Mark clinic at the northern end of Oberursel.

And after two years of speaking in the Hessian dialect for the “Datterich” production, this year sees a modern version of a play called “Jedermann”.  Originally written in 1911 by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, the story sees a rich man    meet his maker and have to justify his way of life.

The modern adaptation by director Andreas Walther-Schroth stays with this theme but uses the scenario of a powerful and scruple-less businessman (played by Helmut Langer) who runs a company called the Jedermann AG. [Read more…]

The 2012 open-air theatre season in Oberursel – “Theater im Park” – starts on Thursday 19th July with the premiere performance of “Jedermann” by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, in a new version by Andreas Walther-Schroth.

Billed as a game of “life and death of a multi-industrialist”, the play takes a satirical look at recent political events, the banking crisis and environmental topics.

There are further performances on Friday and Saturday evenings until 25th August at 8pm, with an additional performance on 28th July at 3pm.  All take place in the grounds of the Hohe Mark clinic, which has its own car park and is within walking distance of the U3 station “Hohemark”.

Tickets can be purchased in advance on-line, at the OK-Service (Kumeliusstraße 8) or at the Taunus Information Centre.  Any tickets remaining will be sold on the door.
