Theatre at Kunstbühne Portstrasse

The “Neue Bühne Oberursel” will be performing on stage at the Kunstbühne Portstrasse on Friday, 10th January, 2014 at 7.30pm as well as Saturday  11th at 7.30pm and Sunday 12th at 3pm.

The play is called “Mein alter Herr” and is directed by Christel Popadiuk.

Tickets cost €12 plus a booking fee and are available at the Ticket Center in the Kumeliusstraße.

The theatre is located near the U3 station “Altstadt”.

Kamishibai Theatre performance at the library

A Kabishibai Theatre performance for children aged 3 and over will take place in Oberursel’s library on Saturday, 7th December, 2013 at 11am.

“Kabishibai” is Japanese and means “paper drama”.  A story is told using a small stage and pictures on cards inserted into it.

The story on Saturday is St.Nicholas Day and afterwards the children will be able to make simple Christmas decorations.

The performance will last about 45 minutes and tickets costing €2 each are available at the library or by calling 06171 62870.

Family Day at the Rushmoor-Park

As part of the “Orscheler Sommer” programme a day for the whole family will be taking place in the Rushmoor-Park on Saturday, 17th August, 2013.

A flea market for children will be set up at 2pm, where children can bring along items they wish to sell.  They should also bring along a blanket to put on the grass.

A Punch and Judy show will take place at 3.30pm.

And during the afternoon there will be art workshops, games, a large slide, climbing, an orienteering treasure hunt, as well as food and drink on offer.

At 8pm a “short film festival” will take place, where a series of short films will be shown that have been made by local budding filmmakers.

Entry is free.

Open-air Theatre 2012: Jedermann

The open-air theatre in Oberursel, the “Theater im Park”, is now in its third year at the “new” location in the grounds of the Hohe Mark clinic at the northern end of Oberursel.

And after two years of speaking in the Hessian dialect for the “Datterich” production, this year sees a modern version of a play called “Jedermann”.  Originally written in 1911 by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, the story sees a rich man    meet his maker and have to justify his way of life.

The modern adaptation by director Andreas Walther-Schroth stays with this theme but uses the scenario of a powerful and scruple-less businessman (played by Helmut Langer) who runs a company called the Jedermann AG. [Read more…]

Theatre for Children in the Stadthalle

Drama and Comedy - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / lenmA production of “SchnappiDas kleine Krokodil” (The Little Crocodile) is being performed on Thursday, 10th November 2011 at 2.30pm and 4pm in the Stadthalle in Oberursel.

Tickets are only available at the door, although Kindergartens and Schools in the town have been issued with discount vouchers.
