This weekend (8th-10th August, 2014) sees an unusual and exciting event take place at Oberursel’s station. As part of the Orscheler Sommer events, local residents, clubs and companies have got together to organise a weekend to “play and get to know each other”.
Already, three lorry loads of sand have been delivered to make a temporary sand pit for children to play in.
The fun starts on Friday when model of the station is going to be made using the sand. In the afternoon from 3pm onwards there will be storytelling, boule, petanque, games in the sand, a treasure hunt to take part in, and birds of prey to see. An outdoor chess board will also be there to play on. [Read more…]
From Saturday, 9th August until Saturday, 16th August, 2014, the U3 trains from Oberursel-Hohemark will only be travelling as far as Niederursel to allow for work on the rails to take place.
A replacement bus service will take passengers from Niederursel to Heddernheim in Frankfurt, from where the trains will continue as normal to the Südbahnhof.
However the bus will not be stopping at the stations Wiesenau and Zeilweg.
As the S-Bahn trains are also running a reduced service at present, getting to Frankfurt in the coming week will require a good deal of patience.
One alternative is to travel to Bad Homburg by car, and use the U-Bahn line U2 from Ober-Eschbach, as this is not affected by the disruptions.
Congratulations to Herr Karl Breunig in Stierstadt who is 90 years old today.
