The musikhalle portstrasse is holding a “Friday night Jam Session” on Friday, 14th November, 2014 at 8pm.

The “musikhalle” is located opposite the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” on the U3 line.
Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 11th November, 2014, we are told that it will be a documentary. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.
The monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will take place on Saturday, 15th November, 2014 between 7am and 1pm.
The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.
To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.
To celebrate 25 years of German Re-unification in 1990 a project has started to plant three trees in as many town as possible.
In Oberursel the trees were planted at the end of October 2014 in the Rushmoor Park. Placed in an equilateral triangle 10 metres apart from each other, there is a beech tree at the western point of the triangle to symbolise the “old” Federal Republic, a pine tree at the eastern point symbolising the GDR, and an oak tree at the northern tip to symbolise the unified country.
If viewed from the air, the tops of the trees form a roof that is a symbol of protection for the country’s citizens. [Read more…]

There are just a few hours left until the premiere performance of the school musical “Miracle – Wunderkinder” at Oberursel’s grammar school, and the cast and crew have been reheasing intensely for the past few days to get everything perfect.
Matilda is a gifted child but has parents who are of little means. She likes to read, but there is only one book in the house: “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain. She is fascinated by the main figure in the book, who becomes a role model for her. Later she is able to read other children’s books and also takes on some of the qualities of characters in them as well. [Read more…]

Congratulations to Herr Hans-Walter Georgii in Oberstedten who is 90 years old today.
Blood can be donated at the Red Cross in Oberursel on Saturday, 8th November, 2014 between 3.30pm and 8pm. The Red Cross is located at Marxstraße 28, opposite the U-Bahn station “Lahnstraße”.
To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.
