Weekly market moved to the Epinayplatz

The weekly market in Oberursel will take place on the Epinayplatz on the following dates, due to the Christmas market taking place at the usual locations:

  • Wednesday, 21st November
  • Saturday 24th November
  • Wednesday 28th November
  • Saturday 1st December

Epinayplatz in OberurselDue to the wine festival taking place on the Marktplatz, the market on Saturday, 4th August, 2012 will be held on the Epinayplatz instead.

 

Last day for Kern’s Geflügel after 40 years at the Market

After 40 years of serving fresh poultry and eggs at the market twice a week in Oberursel, Saturday morning marked the end of an era for Anke Gonidec-Kern and Kern’s Geflügel when she opened up her trailer for the last time.

In fact, Frau Gonidec-Kern took the stand over from her parents, making it a total of 60 years that her family have been coming to the market.  Now she is giving up the business on health grounds.

On the last day there were plenty of customers who came to the stand to buy their eggs and meat for the last time and just before 10am the mayor (Hans-Georg Brum) arrived with the city manager (Wolfgang Bräutigam) and market manager (Marlen Pauly) to present Frau Gonidec-Kern with a bouqet of flowers. Epinayplatz in OberurselDue to the Brunnenfest the weekly market has been moved on Saturday 2nd June, 2012, to the Epinay-Platz.

Items for sale at the Spring Market in the Vordertaunusmuseum.  The decorations on display here have all been made by the mentally disabled patients and residents of Haus Altkönig in Oberursel.

The market is open today until 6pm and again tomorrow (Sunday, 18th March, 2012) from 12 noon until 6pm.

The Vordertaunus museum is holding a spring market on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th March, 2012 between 12 noon and 6pm.  The museum is located at the opposite end of the Markplatz to the library.

They will be selling

  • colourful spring decorations
  • home-made soaps
  • minerals
  • cuddly toys
  • Easter decorations
  • home-made boxes
  • coffee and cakes

It may be Christmas Eve, but the market will still be taking place today in Oberursel.  This maybe a chance for some last minute Christmas shopping!

Friedrichsdorf Christmas Market

Christmas MarketThe Christmas Market in Friedrichsdorf takes place on Saturday, 17th December (11am-10pm) and Sunday, 18th December, 2011 (10am-9pm).

It is being held on the Landgrafenplatz, at one end of the main shopping area.

Friedrichsdorf can be reached by car using the B455 road, or by train from Frankfurt by line S5.  The station is also served by the Taunusbahn.

 

Kronberg Christmas Market

Christmas MarketThe Christmas Market in Kronberg is being held on Saturday, 10th December (3pm-9pm) and Sunday, 11th December, 2001 (11am-6pm).

It takes place within the old town (Altstadt), at the Berliner Platz and at the castle (Burg).

The Berliner Platz car park is located on the main road running through the town centre, and Kronberg is also easily reached by train as it is the end of the S4 line.

 

Königstein Christmas Market

Christmas MarketThe Christmas Market in Königstein is being held between Friday, 3rd December and Sunday, 5th December, 2011.

The opening times are:

Friday 4pm – 9.30pm

Saturday 11am – 9.30pm

Sunday 11am – 8pm

The market is held between the Kurpark and the Rathausplatz.

To get there from Frankfurt, take the RMV train line 12.
