A disco for over 40s is being held under the name of “TaunusDisco” in the dance school “Tanzschule Pritzer” in the old station building on Saturday, 13th October, 2012.
The music will be a mixture of current music such as “funk” and “soul”, and also some lesser-known pieces such as World Music, all mixed by DJ Param.
Entry is from 9pm and costs 8 Euro.

When the station in Oberursel re-opened in May, a new event was created: the Taunus Disco. The disco is aimed at the over 40s in the town and was held for the first time in June this year, with the music a mixture of a groove, jazz, latin, house and contemporary music, all put together by DJ Param. And even if I don’t technically qualify for the age group (yet!), this month I went along to take a look.
Getting there is not a problem, neither is finding somewhere to park on a Saturday night because there is a large car park next to the station itself. But then being at the station means that there are other ways of getting there, as the S-Bahn and U-Bahn run until the early hours of the morning.
When I arrived it had already turned dark and the station building was lit up, with a purple glow coming from the main ballroom windows. The disco itself is held in the part of the building normally used by the dance school (Pritzer), but the organisers stress that it is not a dance school event. [Read more…]
Work begins today (Wednesday, 19th September, 2012) to remove the old subway entrance at the main station in Oberursel.
The work will take place around the clock and should be finished on Monday.
As part of the work has to take place when the trains are not running this will be done at night, which may cause some noise at night.

Due to works on the line last weekend, there was a shuttle service between Heddernheim and Oberursel running with single-unit trains.

The first “40plus party” by Taunus Disco was held last month in the newly restored train station.
Around 150 guests danced to the tunes of DJ Param – a mixture of groove, jazz, latin, house and contemporary music.
It was not until 11.45pm when the last “S-Bahn” was announced that the dance floor started to empty, with the last guests leaving at 1.30am.
The next disco takes place on Saturday, 18th August, 2012.
The “Grosse Hammerform” (large hammer) is a combination of burnt and unburnt oak and was made by sculptor Eberhard Müller-Fries during the Hessentag.
It forms the start of the “Skulpturenachse” (Sculpture axis) between the station in Oberursel and the Hohemark.
