The Taunushalle and the Maternity Ward

It was Saturday, 6th December, 2014.  The couples Sabine and Frank Starnberger along with Antonia and Karlheinz Meier were on their way to the hospital in Bad Homburg, where they their first children were about to be born.  But whilst the mothers stayed calm, Frank was so nervous, that he needed something to calm him down.  Karlheinz meanwhile had been in a strange accident and was now a patient himself in the hospital. Toy Bazaar in Oberstedten

A “toy bazaar” is being held at the Taunushalle in Oberstedten on Sunday, 10th November, 2013.

Organised by the Aktion Kinderparadies e.V., it will be open from 10am until noon and the items sold will be toys, books, multimedia and toy vehicles suitable for children up to 12 years old.

What makes this bazaar slightly different, is that it is “sortiert”, ie. the vendors do not have a table each, but instead the toys are sorted by type, making it easier to find something without having to visit every table!

The organisation receives 15% of the proceeds.

To find the Taunushalle, set your navigation equipment to “Landweg 6″ in Oberursel.

The nearest bus stop is “Landwehr” on route 41.

That is, it would be if the next higher level of government – the Kreis – had not increased the amount that the town has to pay for their services, including the school, by almost  €11 million for the coming year, leaving with the town with a deficit in 2014 of just over €6 million.

So once again the town called a meeting of its residents to discuss the next round of savings, holding it this year in the Burgwiesenhalle in Bommersheim.  The hall may not have been full – around 160 people turned up – but there were a significant number of children and teenagers present to protest against the planned cuts in funding for the “Jugendtreffs” in Weißkirchen and Stierstadt.
