Find out how the Celts lived in Oberursel

A celtic funeral pileA tour entitled “Das keltische Leben am Fuße des Feldbergs” (celtic life at the foot of the Feldberg) is being held on Saturday, 11th August, 2012 at 2pm.

The tour starts at the Taunus Information Centre and costs €5 per person, those taking part should have sturdy footwear.

 

Open-air Theatre 2012: Jedermann

The open-air theatre in Oberursel, the “Theater im Park”, is now in its third year at the “new” location in the grounds of the Hohe Mark clinic at the northern end of Oberursel.

And after two years of speaking in the Hessian dialect for the “Datterich” production, this year sees a modern version of a play called “Jedermann”.  Originally written in 1911 by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, the story sees a rich man    meet his maker and have to justify his way of life.

The modern adaptation by director Andreas Walther-Schroth stays with this theme but uses the scenario of a powerful and scruple-less businessman (played by Helmut Langer) who runs a company called the Jedermann AG. [Read more…]

Lost property (June and July 2012)

Oberursel Rathaus

The lost property office (Fundbüro) in Oberursel’s town hall has released a list of items that have been handed in during June and July.

You can browse the list (in German) by clicking here.

Amongst the latest finds are eight ID cards, seven bicycles, a cycle helmet, a digital camera, four purses, three mobile phones, a Blackberry, two MP3 players, a ring, 16 keys and keyrings, a brooch, a bracelet, two watches and various items of clothing.

They can be collected at the Rathaus in room 101A within 6 months of them being handed in. For more information call 06171 502-371 or -262.

Market moved to Epinayplatz on Saturday

Epinayplatz in OberurselDue to the wine festival taking place on the Marktplatz, the market on Saturday, 4th August, 2012 will be held on the Epinayplatz instead.

 

Road closures and parking restrictions during the wine festival

From Thursday 2nd until Monday 6th August 2012 the following road in Oberursel will be closed for the wine festival:

  • Eppsteiner Straße (between Ackergasse and Schulstraße, and between Weidengasse and Untere Marktplatzstraße)

There will be no stopping or parking allowed in the following streets:

  • Untere Marktplatzstraße
  • Marktplatz
  • Wiederholtstraße
  • Steinmühlenweg (between Altkönigstraße and the Rolls-Royce entrance)

The parking spaces in front of the Ferdinand-Balzer-Haus will not be available.

The Schlenkergasse will be temporarily made into a two-way street during this time.
