Friday night is music night at Musikhalle Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
On Friday, 23rd November, 2012 the indie bands “Unimportant People” and “Echolons” will be playing.
Entry costs €5.
4 cars were broken into in the Oberhöchstädter Straße and in Stierstadt in the space of one night last weekend.
In each case, a BMW was broken into by smashing a window and the sat nav stolen.
The cars in Stierstadt were parked in the Eichenstraße, Ruppertshainer Straße and Im Wingert.
During the “Culture stage in the Allee” event back in June the Fairtrade Town steering group had an information stand with a number of Fairtrade products as well as information leaflets.
They also had a “Fußballtorwand” – a wall with two holes in to that you try to kick a football through. This was covered with information about how child labour is used to make sports articles.
A fairtrade football was raffled off amongst all those who had a go at getting the ball through the hole, and the winner was 11-year-old Nikolas Alt, who was presented with the football by Dr. Johannes Bickel (left) of the steering group and Mayor Hans-Georg Brum (right). Also in the photo are Nicole Schüppenhauer and Jens Gessner from the town’s environment, conservation and energy department.
Police are investigating an incident that took place last Wednesday (7th November, 2012) at the U-Bahn Station “Lahnstraße”.
A 58 year old man heard what is being described as an “explosive-type noise” coming from one of the nearby houses and felt something hurt his thigh. He had a 4mm graze and may therefore have been hit by some form of projectile.
Anyone with information is asked to call Oberursel police on 06171 62400.
“Der Wolf und die sieben jungen Geißlein” (The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids) from the Brothers Grimm is being read in the library on Saturday, 17th November, 2012 at 11am by volunteer Barbara Petersen.
Tickets cost €3 and should be reserved in advance in the library or by calling 06171 62870.
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a coffee afternoon on Sunday, 18th November 2012 between 2pm and 6pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
On Saturday three Oberursel residents were presented with awards for their dedication in donating blood.
Wolfgang Westenburger (57), Klaus Hallert (66), and Norbert Wehrheim (63) had all come to the monthly blood donation at the Red Cross building in the Marxstraße, to donate – as they had done so many times before – 500ml each of their blood. Exactly how often they have done this in the past is recorded and so it was that they were celebrating their 100th, 125th and 150th donations respectively.

The Kupferhammerweg became the end of the line for a weekend during works on the level crossing across the Hohemarkstraße.
Trains terminated at Kupferhammer from where a minibus service connected with the stations “Rosengärtchen”, “Waldlust” and “Hohemark”.
