Breakfast Cinema at Bluebox Portstrasse

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Sunday, 17th November, 2013, we are told that it will be a film about relationships. If you do want to know which film will be shown or to reserve tickets call 06171 636930.

The showing starts at 11.30am and they are located opposite the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.

Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 12th November, 2013, we are told that it will be a film about the prison at Guantanamo Bay and shown in co-operation with Amnesty International. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 8pm.

A walk along the Mühlenwanderweg

The water wheel at the SchuckardtsmühleA tour along part of the Mühlenwanderweg is being offered on Saturday, 16th November, 2013.

Starting at the corner of the Bleiche and Portstraße, the tour will visit the location of some of the 42 mills that used to operate in the town, with this tour concentrating on those in the town centre.

The tour starts at 2pm and costs €3 per person.

 

 

3,000 step walk for senior citizens in Stierstadt

To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.

Bingo at the Seniorentreff

Bingo - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / iofotoThe Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering an afternoon of Bingo on Thursday, 14th November, 2013 between 2.30pm and 4.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).

Anyone who is interested is invited to come along and try their luck!

Huts at allotments broken into

On the night of 21st/22nd October, 2013, at least four garden huts were broken into at the allotments “In den Kreuzhecken”.

According to police the only thing that appears to have been stolen was a bar of chocolate.  However the damaged caused is estimated to be worth €300.

Citizens’ Medals awarded to Christa Fickert und Helene Netz

The citizens’ medals this year were awarded during the Bürgerempfang in the Stadthalle on Tuesday, 29th October, 2013 to Christa Fickert and Helene Netz, who started the “An-Zieh-Eck” 40 years ago.

The “An-Zieh-Eck”, located at Hohemarkstraße 27 in premises provided by the Oberurseler Wohnungsgenossenschaft (housing association) collects donations of clothing and furniture, and sells them on to people who need them and cannot afford to buy new things.  For example, a pair of socks costs 50 cents and suits start at €7.  The proceeds are split between the social institutions of the protestant and catholic churches.

Martinsmarket

This weekend sees the Martinsmarket take place in Oberursel on the Rathausplatz, Epinayplatz and in the Kumeliusstraße.

Whilst the Rathausplatz is turned into a middle-age market, the Epinayplatz will by the place to go for local produce ranging from cheese to fish.

On Sunday the normal shops will also be open from 12 noon until 6pm.

B456 roadworks extended

The work on the B456 bridge across the L3003 (Niederstedter Straße) should have been completed by now, but has been extended until 20th December, 2013.

The contraflow system on the bridge and traffic lights below will remain in place for now.

Changes to town hall opening times

The opening times for Oberursel’s town hall have changed from 1st November, 2013.

They are now as follows:

Monday

8am – 1.30pm open to all

1.30pm – 4pm only by appointment

Tuesday

8am – 12pm open to all

1.30pm – 4pm only by appointment

Wednesday

8am – 12pm open to all

1.30pm – 4pm only by appointment

Thursday

8am – 12pm and 1.30pm – 6pm open to all

Friday

8am – 12pm only by appointment, closed in the afternoon
