The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a flea market on Saturday, 9th November, 2013 between 9am and 1pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).

The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering a 3,000 step walk on Wednesday, 6th November, 2013.
To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.
A “toy bazaar” is being held at the Taunushalle in Oberstedten on Sunday, 10th November, 2013.
Organised by the Aktion Kinderparadies e.V., it will be open from 10am until noon and the items sold will be toys, books, multimedia and toy vehicles suitable for children up to 12 years old.
What makes this bazaar slightly different, is that it is “sortiert”, ie. the vendors do not have a table each, but instead the toys are sorted by type, making it easier to find something without having to visit every table!
The organisation receives 15% of the proceeds.
To find the Taunushalle, set your navigation equipment to “Landweg 6″ in Oberursel.
The nearest bus stop is “Landwehr” on route 41.
A new series of films continues on Sunday, 10th November, 2013 at 3pm at the Bluebox cinema in the Portstraße (next to Café Portstraße), located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
“Movies4Youngsters” are films for children aged between 12 and 15 years of age.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
It can’t be easy being in charge of Oberursel’s finances. After two rounds of spending cuts and tax increases, the town’s budget could budget could be in the black to the tune of around €4.5 million after a sudden windfall of corporate income tax (Gewerbesteuer) and further cuts in the culture department.
That is, it would be if the next higher level of government – the Kreis – had not increased the amount that the town has to pay for their services, including the school, by almost €11 million for the coming year, leaving with the town with a deficit in 2014 of just over €6 million.
So once again the town called a meeting of its residents to discuss the next round of savings, holding it this year in the Burgwiesenhalle in Bommersheim. The hall may not have been full – around 160 people turned up – but there were a significant number of children and teenagers present to protest against the planned cuts in funding for the “Jugendtreffs” in Weißkirchen and Stierstadt. Friday night is music night at Musikhalle Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
On Friday, 8th November, 2013 the pop-duo “David Pino” and rock-pop group “Neuphoria” weill be playing at 8pm.
Entry costs €6.
Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 5th November, 2013, we are told that it will be a star-studded debut. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.
A disco for over 40s is being held under the name of “TaunusDisco” in the dance school “Tanzschule Pritzer” in the old station building on Saturday, 9th November, 2013.
The music will be a mixture of current music such as “funk” and “soul”, and also some lesser-known pieces such as World Music, all mixed by DJ Param.
Entry is from 9pm and costs 8 Euro.

Blood can be donated at the Red Cross in Oberursel on Saturday, 9th November, 2013 between 1.30pm and 6pm. The Red Cross is located at Marxstraße 28, opposite the U-Bahn station “Lahnstraße”.
To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.

Monday this week (28th October, 2013) saw the 12th so-called “Stadtgespräch” to discuss the re-development of the area around the station in Oberursel and the joining up of the Nassauer Straße and the Weingärtenumgehung – the main road in from Bad Homburg in the North to the by-pass in the South.
It was not the most well visited of gatherings. In fact, considering the amount of press coverage that it had had advance and the number of local residents affected by the plans, one might almost ask where they all were. Including the organisers, there were only 13 people attending! [Read more…]
