A 56-year-old from Bad Homburg was driving along the Hohemarkstraße in his Fiat Doblo towards the Hohemark on Wednesday, 12th March, 2014. At around 1.15pm he went to turn left across the tracks of the U-Bahn near house number 106.
However he oversaw the U-Bahn that was travelling in the same direction. The car and the U-Bahn collided, with the car being pushed along the track and squashed between the train and the railings.
The car is a write-off, the driver and his passenger were slightly hurt. The total damage is put at around €20,000. The U-Bahn was damaged but was able to be driven away under its own power once the track had been cleared.
The window of a hairdresser’s shop in the Vorstadt was damaged between 10.30pm on Saturday, 8th March, and 4am on Sunday, 9th March, 2013.
According to police part of the shop’s inventary was damaged as well, but as yet they do not have any information on the perpetrators.
On the night of the 6th-7th March, 2014, a number of cars were broken into in Oberstedten and the surrounding streets.
According to police, a total of 20 cars had their windows smashed and items taken from inside them. These include purses, mobile phones and mobile satellite navigation equipment. Built-in equipment was left alone.
Police in Oberursel are asking for anyone with information to contact them.
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a coffee afternoon on Sunday, 16th March, 2014 between 2pm and 6pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering a 3,000 step walk along the Maasgrund on Tuesday, 11th March, 2014.
The walk will start at 3pm at entrance to the Maasgrund opposite the bus stop at the Feldbergschule.
After the walk the group plans to go to a café and anyone who does not usually take part in the walks in Stierstadt is asked to 06171 502-289 in advance to make sure enough places are reserved.
The library in Oberursel will be offering a “Mitmachlesung” – a reading with audience participation – on Tuesday. 11th March, 2014 at 3.30pm.
Professional storyteller Uta Werner-Ullrich will be reading the story for children of primary school age.
Tickets cost €4 and are available in the library, by calling 06171 62870 or sending an e-mail to buecherei@oberursel.de.
The registry office (“Standesamt”) and the town hall department for cemeteries will be closed on Tuesday, 11th March, 2014 due to training.
The musikhalle portstrasse is holding a “Friday night Jam Session” on Friday, 14th March, 2014 at 8pm.
Entry is free.
The “musikhalle” is located opposite the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” on the U3 line.
Once a month the Bluebox Portstraße holds a Sunday morning breakfast buffet in their cinema.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Sunday, 16th March, 2014, we are told that it will be a tragic-comic character study. If you do want to know which film will be shown or to reserve tickets call 06171 636930.
The showing starts at 11.30am and they are located opposite the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
