In an accident on the B455 on Wednesday afternoon (21st May, 2014) one person was seriously injured and 9,000 Euro of damage was caused, when a 82-year old driver travelling towards Kronberg stopped at the end of the acceleration lane and then tried turn and drive back the other way.
During the U-Turn the car was hit by another car coming up from the A661. One of the passengers in that car was trapped and had to be cut free by the fire brigade.
Due to work taking place on water pipes and part of the pavement being replaced, the Kurmainzer Straße will be closed to traffic travelling from Steinbach to the Frankfurter Landstraße between the Mauerweg and Mauerfeldfeldstraße from Monday, 26th May, 2014 until approximately the end of September.
Traffic will be diverted instead along the Oberurseler Straße and the Ludwig-Erhard-Straße.
Bus route 251 travelling towards Nord-West-Zentrum will also be diverted and use the same routes that the 41 an 42 take, stopping at “Weißkirchen-Ost”.
Friday night is music night at Musikhalle Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
On Friday, 22nd May, 2014, musicians from Oberursel’s music school will be playing starting at 7pm.
Entry costs €4.
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering a 3,000 step walk on Wednesday, 21st May, 2014.
To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering an afternoon of Bingo on Thursday, 22nd May, 2014 between 2.30pm and 4.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
Anyone who is interested is invited to come along and try their luck!
Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 20th May, 2014, we are told that it will be a German drama. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.
Congratulations to Herr Helmut Reutter in Oberursel who is 90 years old today.
Once again the police in Oberursel (Ordnungspolizei) have carried out speed checks on the road leading to the Feldberg, but this time (12th April, 2014) they chose a stretch between the Sandplacken and the Red Cross station.
Between 4.10pm and 6.10pm they measured the speed of 540 vehicles travelling uphill on a section of the road where a speed limit of 60km/h is in place.
33 of those measured were travelling too fast, with one motorcycle travelling at 121km/h. The driver faces a €240 fine, 4 points on their license, and a one month driving ban.
By comparison, the fasted car was “only” travelling at 83km/h, the driver of which can expect a €30 fine.
Last Saturday (10th May, 2014) saw two people from Oberursel and one from Bad Homburg thanked for their long-term support for the Blood Donation service.
Christel Rindt (62), Gerhard Hohmann (69) und Karl Hainz (65) had come along to the monthly blood donation session at the Red Cross on the Marxstraße, each of them donating 500ml of blood as they had done so many times before.
Except that this time it was for the 100th, 125th and 150th time respectively. “That is particularly impressive” commented Jürgen Swoboda from the Red Cross Blood Donation service. [Read more…]
