Speed checks on the road to the Feldberg

Speed camera - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / AngelstormOnce again the police in Oberursel (Ordnungspolizei) have carried out speed checks on the road leading to the Feldberg, but this time (12th April, 2014) they chose a stretch between the Sandplacken and the Red Cross station.

Between 4.10pm and 6.10pm they measured the speed of 540 vehicles travelling uphill on a section of the road where a speed limit of 60km/h is in place.

33 of those measured were travelling too fast, with one motorcycle travelling at 121km/h. The driver faces a €240 fine, 4 points on their license, and a one month driving ban.

By comparison, the fasted car was “only” travelling at 83km/h, the driver of which can expect a €30 fine.

Between 4pm and 6.20pm they measured the speed of 1046 vehicles on a stretch of the road where a speed limit of 80km/h is in place.

38 of those measured were travelling too fast, with one motorcycle travelling at 144km/h. The driver faces a €240 fine, 4 points on their license, and a one month driving ban.

Between 5pm and 7pm they measured the speed of 217 vehicles on a stretch of the road where a speed limit of 60km/h is in place.

58 of those measured were travelling too fast, with one motorcycle travelling at 124km/h. The driver faces a €240 fine, 4 points on their license, and a one month driving ban.

Between 6.10pm and 8.10pm they measured the speed of 862 vehicles on a stretch of the road where a speed limit of 80km/h is in place.

19 of those measured were travelling too fast, with one motorcycle travelling at 127km/h. The driver faces a €160 fine, 3 points on their license, and a one month driving ban.

Between 2.30pm and 4.30pm they measured the speed of 170 vehicles on a stretch of the road where a speed limit of 60km/h is in place.

12 of those measured were travelling too fast, with one motorcycle travelling at 99km/h. The driver faces a €120 fine and 3 points on their license. The fastest car was travelling at 83km/h, resulting in a fine of €30.

Between 6.15pm and 8.10pm they measured the speed of 564 vehicles travelling towards either Oberursel or the Sandplacken on a stretch of the road where a speed limit of 80km/h is in place.

29 of those measured were travelling too fast, with one motorcycle travelling at 133km/h. The driver faces a €160 fine, 3 points on their license and a 1 month driving ban.  The fastest car was travelling at 111km/h, resulting in a fine of €80 and also 3 points on the driver’s license.

Accidents on the Kanonenstraße

A number of accidents took place on the Kanonenstraße last Sunday afternoon (16th September, 2012), the road between Oberursel and the Sandplacken.

A 25 year old motorcyclist from Gießen lost control of his Honda in a bend to the right and ended up going off the left-hand side of the road.  He was unhurt, but caused €800 worth of damage.

In a separate accident in the “applause curve” a 64 year old Toyota driver came travelling uphill came into contact with an 18 year old Yamaha motorcyclist travelling downhill.  Both claim that the other person was on the wrong side of the road.

One of them was slightly injured, the damage to the vehicles is estimated at around €550.

Between 4.40pm and 6.20pm they measured the speed of 700 vehicles travelling towards either Oberursel or the Sandplacken on a stretch of the road where speeds of up to 100km/h are allowed.

14 of those measured were travelling too fast, with one motorcycle travelling at 148km/h. The driver faces a €160 fine, 3 points on their license and a 1 month driving ban.

On Wednesday, 15th August 2012, between 6.20pm and 8.15pm they measured the speed of 872 vehicles travelling towards either Oberursel or the Sandplacken on a stretch of the road where speeds of up to 100km/h are allowed.

23 of those measured were travelling too fast, with one motorcycle travelling at 146km/h. The driver faces a €160 fine, 3 points on their license and a 1 month driving ban.  The same penalty will apply to the driver of the fastest car as well, who was travelling at 153km/h.

The police in Oberursel (Ordnungspolizei) carried out speed checks on the Kanonenstraße towards the Feldberg in both directions last week.

On Friday, 18th May 2012, between 4.44pm and 6.45pm they measured the speed of 517 vehicles travelling towards either Oberursel or the Sandplacken.

15 of them were travelling too fast, with one motorcycle travelling at 107km/h. 80km/h are allowed. The driver faces a €70 fine and 1 points on their license.
