Reduced U-Bahn service on Sunday

Work on the tracks in the U-Bahn tunnel in Frankfurt will mean a reduced service running on Sunday, 2nd February, 2014.

The lines U1 and U2 will terminate at “Hügelstraße” from where buses will continue along the route to the “Südbahnhof”.  Most U3 and U8 trains will terminate at “Heddernheim”.

The S-Bahn S5 provides an alternative way to get to Frankfurt, but it should also be noted that a number of other U-Bahn lines and trams will not be running in the West End of the city for part of the day due to the demolition of one of the tower blocks.

U3 partially replaced by buses on Saturday

The U-Bahn line U3 will only operate as far as Kupferhammer on Saturday, 16th November and 23rd November, 2013 between 8am and 4pm to allow for work on the trees to take place.

Between Kupferhammer and Hohemark a replacement bus service will be in operation.

Changes to the U-Bahn route (U3) at the weekend

Due to works on the line the U3 will be running along a different route this coming weekend.

On both Saturday, 15th June and Sunday, 16th June, 2013, the line will start as usual at Oberursel-Hohemark and continue towards Frankfurt.  After the “Wiesenau” stop, however, it will divert onto the U9 line and terminate at Römerstadt.

From there, buses will take passengers to Hügelstraße, where the shuttle service will be in operation to the Südbahnhof.

The alternatives are to change trains in Römerstadt to the U9 and continue to Ginnheim, and change there to tram line 16, or to take the S-Bahn S5 from Oberursel to Frankfurt.

 

Limited U-Bahn service in Frankfurt

The U3 line to Frankfurt will be operating a reduced service once again at the weekend to allow for work on the track to take place at the “Miquel- / Adickesallee” station.

From Friday, 26th April, 2013 at 9.30pm the trains will terminate at Heddernheim, and will continue to do so throughout Saturday and Sunday.  Buses replace the trains between Heddernheim and Eschenheimer Tor, from where a shuttle service will be in operation on the line to Südbahnhof.

Passengers should allow extra time for their journey or switch to other routes, such as the S-Bahn line S5 to get from Oberursel to the centre of Frankfurt.

Normal service should be resumed on Monday morning.

From Friday, 19th April, 2013 at 9.30pm the trains will terminate at Heddernheim, and will continue to do so throughout Saturday and Sunday.  Buses replace the trains between Heddernheim and Eschenheimer Tor, from where a shuttle service will be in operation on the line to Südbahnhof.

Passengers should allow extra time for their journey or switch to other routes, such as the S-Bahn line S5 to get from Oberursel to the centre of Frankfurt.

Normal service should be resumed on Monday morning.

Historic Steam Train pulled by 01 118 in Oberursel

A train of historic coaches pulled by steam train 01 118 stopped at Oberursel’s station this morning (Sunday, 14th April, 2013) to pick up passengers for a trip to Gießen via Friedrichsdorf, Friedberg and Bad Nauheim.

The lokomotive, 01 118, was built in Essen in 1934 and spent much of its life working for the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the GDR.

Limited U-Bahn service in Frankfurt

The U3 line to Frankfurt will be operating a reduced service at the weekend to allow for work on the track to take place near the tunnel entrance at “Dornbusch”.

From Friday, 5th April, 2013 at 9.30pm the trains will terminate at Heddernheim, and will continue to do so throughout Saturday and Sunday.  Buses replace the trains between Heddernheim and Eschenheimer Tor, from where a shuttle service will be in operation on the line to Südbahnhof.

Passengers should allow extra time for their journey or switch to other routes, such as the S-Bahn line S5 to get from Oberursel to the centre of Frankfurt.

Normal service should be resumed on Monday morning.

Restricted train services on Saturday

On Saturday, 9th March, 2013 the U-Bahn line U3 will be closed between Bommersheim and Oberursel station from around 9am until 5pm to allow for tree-cutting work to take place.

Trains from Frankfurt will terminate at “Weißkirchen Ost”, from where a replacement bus service will take passengers to the stops between Bommersheim and Hohemark.

Temporary bus stops have been set up near to the train stations and passengers travelling towards Frankfurt should be aware that the buses will leave the Hohemark terminus around 5 minutes earlier than the train would.

Changes to the U-Bahn at the weekend

Due to works on the U-Bahn network in Frankfurt at the weekend, the U3 line will not be running as usual.

On Friday evening (5th October, 2012) trains after 10pm and on Saturday (6th October) will terminate at Heddernheim from where a replacement bus service will continue into Frankfurt as far as Dornbusch.  A reduced service will be in operation between Dornbusch and Südbahnhof.

On Sunday (7th October), the U3 line will be diverted to Nord-West-Stadt and will terminate at Ginnheim.  Buses at Nord-West-Stadt will connect with Dornbusch.

The line U8 will not be running at all during this time, to travel to Riedberg passengers will need to use the line U9.

 

Subway steps to be removed at the station

Work begins today (Wednesday, 19th September, 2012) to remove the old subway entrance at the main station in Oberursel.

The work will take place around the clock and should be finished on Monday.

As part of the work has to take place when the trains are not running this will be done at night, which may cause some noise at night.
