Intoxicated cyclist injured in accident

A cyclist was injured in an accident at 1.50am on Wednesday, 2nd August, 2017.  The 25-year-old from Ireland was travelling along the Lenaustraße towards the Hauffstraße when they lost control of their bike and fell.  They were taken to hospital by ambulance.

A breath test revealed that their blood alcohol content to be around 2 parts per thousand.  By comparison, the normal legal limit for driving a car in Germany is 0.5 parts per thousand.

The bicycle was undamaged.

Drivers caught under the influence

The night of the 18th/19th July, 2013, was a busy night for the police doctor in Oberursel.

Three drivers stopped where suspected of being under the influence of drugs whilst driving.  In addition to undergoing blood tests they also had to surrender their car keys and papers.

A futher driver was stopped after police became concerned about his driving style.  When breathalysed it was then discovered that he was driving with a blood-alcohol level of over 2 parts per thousand.  He also had to surrender his car keys and papers and undergo a blood test.

Drunk Driver landed in roadside ditch

A 43-year-old woman from the Odenwaldkreis was driving along the B456 towards Bad Homburg in her Kia Picanta last Sunday evening (28th April, 2013).  On leaving the road at the Oberstedten exit to join the L3003 the car slid of the road and landed in the roadside ditch.

Police discovered that the same person had previously caused an accident on the motorway near Offenbacher Kreuz and had damaged the crash barrier in the process.  They report that she was under the influence of a considerable amount of alcohol and after taking a blood sample her driving license was confiscated.

The damage is estimated at €3,500.

Drunk driver hit U-Bahn railing

A car being driven by a 29-year-old woman was travelling along the Hohemarkstraße in the early hours of Sunday morning, heading towards the town centre.

On reaching the turning to “Im Heidegraben” she lost control of the vehicle and hit the railing of the U-Bahn station on the right-hand side of the road.

According to the police report she had drunk considerable alcohol, which was confirmed at the scene by a breathaliser test.  A blood sample was taken and her driving license was confiscated.

The damage is estimated at around €5,000.

Drunk Driver caught by police volunteers in unmarked car

Two police volunteers were travelling from Oberhöchstadt to Oberursel along the L3015 in an unmarked police car last Saturday evening (3rd February, 2013), when they were overtaken by a speeding Mercedes driven by a 36-year-old man.

After calling for assistance from their colleagues in a patrol car a breath test was carried out on the driver, which revealed a blood alcohol content of 2.14 parts per thousand, as a result of which a blood sample was ordered to be taken and his driving license confiscated.
