Sternenfest – Star festival – at the Waldorf School

The Waldorf School (Freie Waldorfschule Vordertaunus) in OberurselThe Waldorf School in Oberursel (Freie Waldorfschule Vordertaunus) is holding a “Sternenfest” on Saturday, 23rd November, 2013.

The festival opens at 12 Noon with a bazaar between 1pm and 5pm, followed by singing.

Children in classes 5 to 7 will be performing a “dance of the stars” and the school band will also be playing.

For €5, children can take part in five activities, and the price includes a drink of juice and a piece of cake, allowing them to move around the school freely without their parents.

The school is located in the Eichwäldchenweg, but parking spaces near the school are limited.

To go by train, take the U3 line to Kupferhammer and cross over the main road to enter the Eichwäldchenweg.

13th Rheingau Wine Festival

The 13th Rheingau Wine Festival in Oberursel is being held between Friday 2nd August and Sunday 4th August 2013 on the Marktplatz.

Many of the vineyards at the festival will be familiar to those who have been before, as they have been coming for a number of years and often have their stands in the same place each year.

Visitors can expect to find selected Riesling and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) wines from towns such as Lorch, Hattenheim, Hochheim, Giesenheim, Erbach, Johannisberg and Oestrich-Winkel.

There will also be a variety of food on offer, including Flammkuchen (Tarte Flambee) and (Zwiebelkuchen) Onion cake.

The festival will be officially opened on Friday evening at 6.30pm.

The stands are open on Friday and Saturday from 5pm until 12.30am and on Sunday from 2pm until 11pm. [Read more…]

Music, English and Doctors – the 2nd Station Festival is this weekend

This weekend (18th/19th May, 2013) will see not only the station festival take place in Oberursel for the second time, but also the official opening of the new building on the opposite side of the road which houses a number of doctors’ surgeries.

The festival starts on both days  at 11am and on Saturday night “Roy Hammer and the Pralinées” will be performing at 8pm, open-air and with free entry!

There will be a merry-go-round, bouncy castle, miniature steam train and tours of the new building on offer.

Helen Doron Early English, who are located in the station building, will be singing and dancing on stage in English at 2pm on both days, 4.30pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday.  They will also be telling the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar on Saturday at 2.30pm and The Gruffalo on Sunday at 3.30pm.

Drivers should note that the Nassauer Straße will be closed from Saturday 6am until Sunday 7pm between the Feldbergstraße and the Kleine Adenauerallee.

Brunnenfest 2012

The Bleiche in Oberursels old townThis weekend sees the annual Brunnenfest (Fountain festival) in Oberursel return after missing a year due to the Hessentag.

The festival runs from Friday 1st June until Monday 4th June 2012.

There will be music on stage at the Markplatz from Friday evening onwards and throughout most of the weekend, with a funfair atmosphere at the Bleiche and lots of stands selling food and drink inbetween the Bleiche and the Vorstadt.

An area for children called the Kindermeile will be open on Saturday afternoon from 3pm, and a yellow duck race on the Ursulbach on Sunday afternoon.

The festival closes at 10.30pm on Monday evening with a firework display.
