Wine Festival in Bad Homburg
The annual wine festival (Weinfest) is being held in Bad Homburg between the 18th and 20th of May.
The festival official opens on Friday, 18th May 2012 at 5pm, with the opening ceremony taking place in front of the Kurhaus. The wine stands themselves are open from 3pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon. The stands can be found spread along the pedestrian precinct – the Louisenstraße.
Shops in the town centre will also be open on Sunday between 1pm and 6pm.
To get there from Frankfurt, take the U-Bahn line U2 to the end of the line at Gonzenheim, and then one of the many buses that go to the town centre (the bus stop on the right as you leave the U-Bahn station), or the S-Bahn line S5 to Bad Homburg station from where it is a short walk to the centre.
Worldfest at Frankfurt International School
Frankfurt International School in Oberursel is celebrating “Worldfest” on Sunday, 13th May, 2012.
Between 12pm and 4pm the school will be offering a selection of international foods, games, activities and entertainment.
To get there by train, take the U-Bahn U3 to Waldlust.
If you come by car and live locally, head for Edeka’s car park at the corner of the Hohemarkstraße and Camp-King-Allee from where the school will be laying on shuttle buses.
Visitors from further afield can take the Oberursel-Nord exit off he A661 towards the town and park on the field next to Rolls Royce (behind the U-Bahn station “Lahnstrasse” which is currently being modernised). Again, a shuttle bus service will taked visitors to the school.
There is no parking at the school itself.

Lantern Festival (Laternenfest)
The annual lantern festival (Laternenfest) in Bad Homburg takes place between the 2nd and 5th of September, 2011.
The festival stretches from the end of the pedestrian precinct next to the Rathaus all the way up to the other end of the Louisenstraße, and then across the road to the Festplatz.
There is also a procession on Saturday evening, which leaves Kirdorf at around 8.30pm and goes along the Kaiser-Friedrich-Promenade and the edge of the Kurpark. On Sunday evening it leaves Ober-Eschbach at 8.30pm to return by a slightly different route.
One of the easiest ways to get there is by taking the S-Bahn (S5) to Bad Homburg and walking from the station to the Louisenstraße, although getting to the Festplatz at the other end can take a while! While the procession takes place most of the bus routes cannot run.
