The local branch of the SPD are holding their annual Easter Egg hunt in Camp King on Monday, 21st April, 2014.
Children aged up to 10 are invited to be at the “Rondell” between the Waldorf school and the Petanque club at 11am.
A tour to some of Oberursel’s historic churches is being organised by Marion Unger on Saturday, 19th April, 2014 – Easter Saturday.
The tour starts at 2pm at the Christuskirche at 2pm on the corner of the Füllerstraße and Oberhöchstadter Straße, which is 100 years old this year. From the tour will continue through the town to the St.Ursula Church in the old part of the town.
Participation in the tour costs €5.
Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 15th April, 2014, we are told that it will be a drama. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.
The Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 19th April, 2014.
Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.
Frankfurt International School will be showing the film “Girl Rising” in the auditorium at 7pm on Monday, 14th April, 2014. Admission is free.
“Girl Rising” is a feature film narrated Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Selena Gomez and others, that tells the stories of nine incredible girls across the globe.
It is also a campaign and a community that believes investing in girls will bring about transformative change for families, communities and nations. Around the world millions of girls face barriers to education that boys do not, yet by educating a girl it is possible to break the cycle of poverty in just one generation.
The film is suitable for students in Grade 7 and over. The school recommends that parents and students attend together. To get to the school, take the U-Bahn line U3 to “Waldlust”.

The monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will take place on Saturday, 19th April, 2014 between 7am and 1pm.
The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.
To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.
The collection days for the black rubbish sacks and bins are being brought forward for the week before Easter.
The changes are as follows:

ie. if the rubbish is normally collected on Monday, then it will be collected on Saturday, and so on.
The week after Easter the situation is reversed, ie. the Monday collection takes place on Tuesday and the Friday collection on Saturday.
Yellow sacks and bins
The yellow sacks and bins will also be collected a day later in the week after Easter.

The tunnel on the B455 between Oberursel-Nord and Oberursel-Hohemark will be closed to allow for the lights to be replaced on two nights next week.
On the 14th/15th and 15th/16th April the work will take place between 8pm and 5am.
Traffic from Kronberg or Königstein heading towards the A661 will be diverted along the Hohemarkstraße. Traffic heading towards those towns will be diverted along the Dornbachstraße.
Once again the police in Oberursel (Ordnungspolizei) carried out speed checks on the Kanonenstraße in both directions on Tuesday, 29th March, 2014.
Between 4pm and 6.20pm they measured the speed of 1046 vehicles on a stretch of the road where a speed limit of 80km/h is in place.
38 of those measured were travelling too fast, with one motorcycle travelling at 144km/h. The driver faces a €240 fine, 4 points on their license, and a one month driving ban.
