Despite warning signs advising of the 3.9m clearance under the bridge, a lorry from Essen in North Rhine-Westphalia with a higher trailer tried to pass under the bridge at the junction of the Homburger Landstraße and the Frankfurter Landstraße, in the area known as “An den Drei Hasen”, last Tuesday, 11th December, 2012.
The trailer was caught by the bridge, with the damage caused to the trailer itself estimated at €8,300.
It remains to be seen whether the bridge was damaged in any way.
The Frankfurter Landstraße was re-opened in both directions yesterday.
The new lane that leads to the Edeka store which is being built there will remain closed until the traffic lights have been upgraded.
The partial closure of the Frankfurter Landstraße between the Ludwig-Erhard-Straße and the Kurmainzerstraße has been extended until Friday, 10th August (2012).

Police in Oberursel are looking for whoever is responsible for putting an un-lit “Warnbarke” – a sign usually used to block off a road for roadworks – in the middle of the Frankfurter Landstraße in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The driving of a car travelling from Niederursel towards Oberursel noticed the sign too late, causing damage to the car of around 2,000 Euro.
Those responsible will probably be charged with “dangerous intervention in road traffic”, and the police are asking anyone with information on who put the sign there to call them on 06171 62400.

Part of the Frankfurter Landstraße will be closed from Wednesday, 11th July, until Wednesday, 25th July, 2012 to allow work on the access road to the new Edeka supermarket in Weißkirchen to take place.
