Several people injured in shunt at traffic lights

An accident at the corner of the Frankfurter Landstraße and Ludwig-Erhard-Straße last Thursday afternoon (22nd August, 2013) left several people injured.

After several cars had already stopped at a set of traffic lights, an 82-year-old man was approaching the queue in a Mercedes car when his foot slid off the brake pedal, causing the car to hit the Peugeot in front of him.

This was shunted onto a Renault Twingo, which in turn hin an Opel Vectra.

The drivers of the Mecedes, Renault, Opel and a passenger in the Renault were slightly injured.

The total damage is estimated at €13,000.

A German Policeman - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / totalpicsPolice in Oberursel are looking for whoever is responsible for putting an un-lit “Warnbarke” – a sign usually used to block off a road for roadworks – in the middle of the Frankfurter Landstraße in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Those responsible will probably be charged with “dangerous intervention in road traffic”, and the police are asking anyone with information on who put the sign there to call them on 06171 62400.
