Children’s cinema in the Portstrasse

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The bluebox is located opposite the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” (formerly “Portstraße”).

The “Open Air Living Room 4Rooms” at the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” (previously called Portstraße) played host to an open air party for the young people of Oberursel on Thursday evening, 29th November 2012.

The organisations Café Portstraße, Kinderhaus Camp King, Jugendtreff Oberstedten, along with the town’s youth office (Jugendbüro) and mobile youth service joined forces to offer twists, punch, sausages and music free of charge with around 30 young people from different parts of the town turning up.

Artist Judith Hildmann (aka rewadopo) provided the entertainment in the form of a fire show.

Donate Blood

Blood - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / iqonceptBlood can be donated at the Red Cross in Oberursel on Saturday, 8th December, 2012 between 1.30pm and 6pm. The Red Cross is located at Marxstraße 28, opposite the U-Bahn station “Lahnstraße”.

To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.

TaunusDisco for over 40s at Tanzschule Pritzer

Oberursel Station at night with the Taunus Disco going in insideA disco for over 40s is being held under the name of “TaunusDisco” in the dance school “Tanzschule Pritzer” in the old station building on Saturday, 8th December, 2012.

The music will be a mixture of current music such as “funk” and “soul”, and also some lesser-known pieces such as World Music, all mixed by DJ Param.

Entry is from 9pm and costs 8 Euro.

Candles for the Kiosk

Candles for the Kiosk - 30th November, 2012

Around 20 people gathered at the kiosk at the U-Bahn station this evening, Friday, 30th November, 2012, to light candles and hold a vigil in protest over the decision to close the kiosk in two weeks time.

They intend to gather again next week at the same time, 5.30pm, and again on 14th December when the kiosk closes for the last time.

Energy saving advice

Oberursel RathausThe Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 6th December, 2012 between 2pm and 6pm.

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

 

Bingo at the Seniorentreff

Anyone who is interested is invited to come along and try their luck!

Christmas Market in Oberursel 2012

The Christmas Market in Oberursel was opened on Thursday, 29th November, 2012 by Mayor Hans-Georg Brum, accompanied by the Fountain Queen Vanessa I, City Manager Wolfgang Bräutigam, Fountain Master Harry Hecker, Treasurer Thorsten Schorr, Alderman Wilfried Abt and Council Chairman Dr. Christoph Müllerleile.

The market stretches from the Rathaus through the Vorstadt and Strackgasse to the Marktplatz.

Kanonenstraße closed after accident

Around €24,000 of damage were caused last Thursday (22nd November) by an accident on the “Kanonenstraße” (L3004).

For reasons as yet unknown an VW Golf driven by an 18-year old came into contact with an Audi Q7, driven by a 40-year old and travelling in the opposite direction near the “Sandplacken”.

After this, the Golf had a head-on collision with a Ford Cougar driven by a 41-year old from Frankfurt.

The driver of the Cougar was slightly injured, although the driver of the Golf more seriously.  Fuel leaked from the vehicles, resulting in Oberursel’s fire brigade being called to the scene.  The road was fully closed for two hours until around 6.50pm.
