Witnesses sought after accident in Lange Straße

Police in Oberursel are asking witnesses to come forward after an accident in the Lange Straße on Tuesday, 7th January, 2014 at around 6pm.

Apparently the a dark coloured Citroen Berlingo hit a silver car parked on the side of the road about 80m from the junction with the Homburger Landstraße, causing the left wing-mirror to be torn off.

The driver of the Citroen drove off without dealing with the damage, but atthe same time, the owner of the silver car has not come forward either.

Anyone with information that would help the police is asked to call 06171 62400.

One person injured in accident at Supermarket

One person was injured on Thursday, 9th January, 2014 in a road traffic accident at a supermarket car park.

A VW Bora travelling along the Hohemarkstraße at 5.30pm turned to enter a supermarket car park, however the 45-year-old driver failed to notice the 58-year-old pedestrian on the footpath at the entrance to the car park.

The pedestrian was knocked to the ground and suffered head injuries.  She was subsequently taken to hospital to be checked over.

Collision with overtaking taxi

An accident occurred late at night at the junction of the Oberhöchstadter Straße and Weingärtenumgehung on Wednesday, 23rd October, 2013.

The 19-year-old driver of an Audi heading out of the town wanted to turn left from the Oberhöchstadter Straße onto the Weingärtenumgehung (by-pass), when just before the turning he was overtaken by a taxi.

The vehicles collided, as a result of which the Audi hit a wall.  Both drivers were slightly hurt.

Cyclist hurt on the Nassauer Straße

A 46-year-old cyclist from Dietzenbach was hurt on the Nassauer Straße on Saturday, 21st September, 2013.

She had been travelling along the Homburger Landstraße, but when she came to the Nassauer Straße she decided to ride on the pavement which is not allowed at this point.

However, as she tried to ride up the curb she fell onto the road into the path of a VW car.

The damage to the car and the bicycle is estimated to be only €200, but the cyclist was injured and taken to the hospital in Bad Homburg for further checks.

Car hit lorry in the Füllerstraße – witnesses sought

A lorry was waiting for the traffic lights to turn green in order to turn from the Füllerstraße into the Oberhöchstadter Straße on Friday, 20th September, 2013 at around 8am, when a car turned left from the Oberhöchstadter Straße into the Füllerstraße, scraping the side of the lorry.

The car drove off and police are now looking for witnesses who should call them on 06171 62400.  The damage to the lorry is estimated at €200.

Accident in roadworks on the B456

An accident occured in the roadworks on the B456 on Tuesday, 17th September 2013 at 11.25pm when a car travelling from Oberursel towards Bad Homburg crossed onto the other side of the road into the oncoming traffic.

The 29-year-old driver of a Scirocco was forced swerve to avoid a collision and came to a standstill at the exist to Oberstedten.  The 18-year-old driver of an Insignia behind him was also able to stop, but the car behild – also a Scirocco, driven by a 19-year-old – was unable to do so in time and hit the Insignia from behind.

The car that had initially caused the accident carried on its way to Bad Homburg without stopping.  The damage is estimated at around €11,000.

Cyclist looking for witnesses to accident

A cyclist involved in an accident on the Füllerstraße is looking for witnesses to an accident in order to help police find the person responsible.

The accident took place on Tuesday, 18th June, 2013 at 6pm, when the driver of a white A5 changed lanes, forcing the cyclist to stop abruptly and fall.

The cyclist had to be taken to hospital where he spent almost two weeks recovering.

Despite another driver who saw the accident sounding their horn and trying to make the Audi driver aware of what had happened, they drove off leaving the cyclist behind.

Cyclist caused accident crossing road

A 52-year-old cyclist decided to cross the Nassauer Straße by pushing his bicycle last Saturday lunchtime (7th September, 2013).

Unfortunately, according to police he did not consider the traffic on the road, causing drivers to drive and swerve to avoid him.  This resulted in two cars colliding with each other.

The cyclist continued on his way regardless, however someone from one of the cars involved was able to catch up with him and keep him at the scene until the police arrived.

No-one was injured but the damage is estimated at around €3,800.

Driver left scene of accident

Last Thursday (15th August, 2013) a driver was seen living the scene of an accident in the Aumühlenstraße.

The 18-year-old had reversed out of a parking space in a VW Golf and damaged a grey Smart in the process.  They then left the scene the accident but were seen by a witness who called the police.

The damage is estimated at €1,300.

81-year-old run over at petrol station

An 81-year-old pedestrian was run over at a petrol station in the Homburger Landstraße on Friday, 22nd June, 2013, after being hit by a Mercedes being driven by an 82-year-old driver.

The pedestrian was so severely hurt, that attempts to save here were unsuccessful.

Although the exact cause of the accident is unknown, police have suggested that the driver may have confused the brake and accelerator pedals.
