The Kupferhammerweg became the end of the line for a weekend during works on the level crossing across the Hohemarkstraße.

Trains terminated at Kupferhammer from where a minibus service connected with the stations “Rosengärtchen”, “Waldlust” and “Hohemark”.

The road will be closed to traffic at this point from Friday, 9th November, 2012 at 10pm until Monday, 12th November, 2012 at 5am.  A diversion via the A661 and B455 will be signposted.

U3 Trains from Frankfurt will terminate at the station “Kupferhammer”, from where buses will connect with “Rosengärtchen”, “Waldlust” and “Hohemark”.

Local buses will also be affect, with route 42 terminating at “Lorsbachstraße”, from where passengers should switch to the shuttle buses.  There is no replacement service to the stops “Forstamt” or “Hauptfriedhof”.

Changes to the U-Bahn at the weekend

Due to works on the U-Bahn network in Frankfurt at the weekend, the U3 line will not be running as usual.

On Friday evening (5th October, 2012) trains after 10pm and on Saturday (6th October) will terminate at Heddernheim from where a replacement bus service will continue into Frankfurt as far as Dornbusch.  A reduced service will be in operation between Dornbusch and Südbahnhof.

On Sunday (7th October), the U3 line will be diverted to Nord-West-Stadt and will terminate at Ginnheim.  Buses at Nord-West-Stadt will connect with Dornbusch.

The line U8 will not be running at all during this time, to travel to Riedberg passengers will need to use the line U9.

U-Bahn Trains at the Hohemark TerminusDue to work on the level crossing in the Gattenhöferweg the U-Bahn “U3” will be terminating at Bommersheim on Saturday and Sunday.

A replacement bus service will be in operation between Bommersheim and Hohemark, with the bus stops either adjacent or near to the train stations.

The stop for the town centre is located in the Feldbergstraße.

Due to works on the line last weekend, there was a shuttle service between Heddernheim and Oberursel running with single-unit trains.

Three injured in U-Bahn collision

Three people were injured on Tuesday evening when a van collided with a U-Bahn train at the level crossing in the Kumeliusstraße.

The van, a Citroen Jumper, had turned into the street from the Berliner Straße when it collided with a passing U3 train.  The driver of the van and two passengers in the train were slightly hurt.

The damage is estimated at €30,000.

I’m not the only person in Oberursel who has noticed something missing recently when travelling by train (U-Bahn) to Frankfurt.

A whole train unit.

Regular readers to the original blog may remember that the stations in Oberursel were upgraded before the Hessentag to take longer trains, making the platforms 75 metres long instead of 50 metres, or in train terms three units coupled together on normal workdays instead of two, each unit being made up of two carriages.

For the past two weeks however, the trains having been running with just two units on these days as well, not just at the weekend, so I asked the local train company why this was.

My suspicions were confirmed: it is all to do with the school holidays.

This burial mound is located at the start of the Celtic trail, opposite the terminus of the U-Bahn line “U3” from Frankfurt.  The “telescope into the past” seen in front of it allows the visitor to see what the inside of the mound would look like.

U-Bahn trains at the Hohemark terminus in OberurselWith so many roads in Oberursel being closed off for the Altstadt-Duathlon and the cycle race “Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt”, there are also a number of changes to bus and train services through the town.

Between 8.30am and 2pm the U3 trains will be terminating at Oberursel-Bahnhof and returning from there back to Frankfurt.

Buses

Bus line 41 will not be running until 17.49 from Oberstedten to Weißkirchen and 17.32 in the opposite direction.

Bus line 42 will not be running until 17.44 from the cemetary to Weißkirchen and 17.29 in the opposite direction.
