Drunk driver injured in Weißkirchen

The 26-year-old driver of a Ford Cougar was travelling along the Kurmainzer Straße last Thursday night (7th March, 2013), when his car came off the road and hit a Honda Civic.

The driver, who police describe as being drunk, was slightly injured.  Police confiscated his driving license and took a blood sample.

Both cars were damaged considerably, with the damage estimated at €5,500.

Donate Blood in Weißkirchen

Blood - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / iqonceptBlood can be donated at the fire station in Weißkirchen (part of Oberursel) on Wednesday, 26th December, 2012 between 1.30pm and 5.30pm. The fire station is located at Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Strasse 2a.

To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.

Kurmainzer Straße to re-open

The Kurmainzer Straße in Weißkirchen is set to re-open at around 3pm this afternoon, Friday, 7th December, 2012.

Kurmainzer Straße to remain closed for another week

Roadworks sign - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / RedKoalaThe Kurmainzerstraße, which was originally due to re-open at the end of this week, will now remain closed until Saturday, 8th December, 2012 to allow work to be completed on the bridge over the Urselbach.

The diversion via Ludwig-Erhard-Straße, Zimmersmühlenweg and Weißkirchener Straße will remain in force.

The maze itself from 11am until 7pm. Entry costs €2.50 for adults, €2 for children aged 10 to 16 and €1.50 for children aged 4 to 9.

To get there by car, travel to the edge of Weißkirchen on the road to Steinbach. There is a track off the road near the yellow “Oberursel Stadtteil Weißkirchen” sign leading towards Frankfurt (ie. left if you have just driving through Weißkirchen, right if you are coming from Steinbach). The maze is about 200m along this track.

If you are coming by train, the nearest station “Weißkirchen-Steinbach” is on the S5 line between Frankfurt and Bad Homburg.

Kräutertag at the Maize Maze

The Maize Maze in WeißkirchenThe Maislabyrinth – a maze made out of maize – will be holding a Kräutertag (herb day) on Sunday, 26th August 2012.

On this day, a Kräuterhex, literally a “herb witch”, will be there and one of the highlights of the day will be a traditional Frankfurt green sauce.

The maze itself from 11am until dusk. Entry costs €2.50 for adults, €2 for children aged 10 to 16 and €1.50 for children aged 4 to 9.

To get there by car, travel to the edge of Weißkirchen on the road to Steinbach. Märchentag at the Maize Maze

The Maize Maze in WeißkirchenThe Maislabyrinth – a maze made out of maize – will be holding a Märchentag (fairy tale day) on Sunday, 12th August 2012.

On this day, a Märchenerzähler, a story reader will be visiting the maze and reading to children.

The maze itself from 11am until dusk.  Entry costs €2.50 for adults, €2 for children aged 10 to 16 and €1.50 for children aged 4 to 9.

Frankfurter Landstraße to be one-way for building work

Roadworks sign - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / RedKoalaPart of the Frankfurter Landstraße will be closed from Wednesday, 11th July, until Wednesday, 25th July, 2012 to allow work on the access road to the new Edeka supermarket in Weißkirchen to take place.

Traffic travelling from Frankfurt to Oberursel will remain on the usual road, which will be reduced to a single one-way lane between the Ludwig-Erhard-Straße and the Kurmainzer Straße.

Traffic travelling from Oberursel to Frankfurt will be diverted via the Ludwig-Erhard-Straße, Oberurseler Straße and Kurmainzer Straße.

Delays are expected on this part of the road and as a consequence drivers are asked to allow extra time for their journeys.
