Weinbergstraße closed until mid February

Roadworks sign - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / RedKoalaThe Weinbergstraße in Oberstedten will be closed until 13th Feburary, 2014, to allow work to take place on underground pipes.

The road is closed from the junction with the Friedrichstraße, however this road can still be used to access the Mariannenweg and the other end of the Weinbergstraße.

Roadworks will continue for a further month once the road is re-opened.

As a result of the closure, buses 41 and 45, along with the school buses 46, 48 and 49 diverted.

Bus - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / robwilson39Numbers 41 and 45 will by-pass the road and continue from the Hauptstaße into the Niederstedter Straße, then to Hans-Mess-Straße before travelling to Bad Homburg.  They will not stop at “Friedrichstraße”, “Weinbergstraße” or “Linde” and passengers should use “Mittelstedter Straße” and “Niederstedter Straße” instead.

The school buses 46 and 48 will start at the “Niederstedter Straße” stop before entering the Hauptstraße and continuing on their normal route.

Bus 49 will terminate at “Niederstedter Straße”.

Elly van Nüss – 100th Birthday

One person injured in accident at Supermarket

One person was injured on Thursday, 9th January, 2014 in a road traffic accident at a supermarket car park.

A VW Bora travelling along the Hohemarkstraße at 5.30pm turned to enter a supermarket car park, however the 45-year-old driver failed to notice the 58-year-old pedestrian on the footpath at the entrance to the car park.

The pedestrian was knocked to the ground and suffered head injuries.  She was subsequently taken to hospital to be checked over.

Safe stolen in the Zimmersmühlenweg

A safe was removed from a wall in a company office in the Zimmersmühlenweg on the night of 7th/8th January, 2014.

The video surveillance recording shows at least two men involved in the break-in, and it is not known how the managed to enter the premises.

The safe, measuring 35 x 35 x 25cm and weighing 31kg contained cash and a mobile phone.

Zumba with Maxima at Café Portstrasse

Zumba with Maxima“Girls only” is the motto at Café Portstrasse on Sunday, 26th January, 2014 with not only the café open from 3pm until 6pm, but also a one-hour Zumba workshop with Maxima at 3pm.

The workshop is free for girls to take part in and comfortable clothing is recommended.

Friday night music at Musikhalle Portstraße

On Friday, 24th January, 2014, local rock group “Frisch Gepresst” will be playing at 8pm.

Entry costs €10.

Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 21st January, 2014, we are told that it will be an “episode film”. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 9pm.

Stammtisch at the Seniorentreff

Coffee and Dougnuts - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / FatseyevaThe Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a Stammtisch on Friday, 24th January, 2014 between 5pm and 8.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).

The Stammtisch is a place to discuss anything and everything that those attending wish to.

BMW came off the Kanonenstrasse

A 40-year-old woman from near Weilburg was travelling along the “Kanonenstsraße” in a BMW just before 1am on Thursday, 9th January, 2014.  At the 6.9km mark in one of the curves, the car left the road and rolled over, landing in a ditch.  The driver suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital.

Accident investigators discovered that the driver was under the influence of a considerable amount of alcohol and did not have a driving license.  A blood sample was taken, and the damage is estimated at around €10,000.
