There will be a book flea market in Oberursel’s library on Saturday, 6th April, 2013 between 10am and 1pm with proceeds going to the library’s supporters’ association.
The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.
The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).
A tour of the old town (Altstadt) part of Oberursel is being offered on Saturday, 6th April, 2013 at 2pm.
The tour starts in front of the Vortaunusmuseum at the Marktplatz at 2pm and costs €3 per person.
The bluebox portstrasse will be showing a film for children aged 8 and over on Friday, 5th April, 2013 at 2.45pm.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The bluebox is located opposite the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” (formerly “Portstraße”).
A school in the Zimmersmühlenweg was broken into last weekend between Friday 22nd and Monday 25th of March (2013).
The culprits broke a window and then entered the building looking for items of value. In one of the rooms they found a safe which was fixed to a wall. Although they were unable to open it they caused around €500 of damage.
A black Toyota Avensis which was parked in the Neurothstraße was damaged on Monday, 25th March, 2013 between 11.45am and 12 noon. It is suspected that the damage, which is on the right at the rear of the vehicle, was caused by the driver of a light grey car.
The cost of the damage is estimated at €1,200 and Oberursel police are asking for anyone with information to call them on 06171 62400.
The Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 4th April, 2013.
Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.
Michel Liebmann from Oberursel’s twin town in France, Épinay-sur-Seine, died on 8th March, 2013, aged 82. For the past 50 years he had been an staunch advocate of the twinning between the towns.
He first visited Oberursel during the “Heimatfest” in 1964 as a civil servant in the delegation from Épinay, and it was in sports that he particularly enriched the twinning, specifically in football and Pétanque. It is said that he also always there for his German friends, was an excellent host and well-liked. For many years he took part in the fountain festival (“Brunnenfest”) as chairman of the Pétanque club “La Boule Spinassienne”, where he was to be found at the Oberursel Boule-Club’s stand.
He also had connections to the Pétanque Club in Oberursel. It is as a result of his initiative that for over 20 years regular tournaments have taken place between the German and Epinay clubs. [Read more…]
Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.

The showing starts at 9pm.
The local branch of the SPD are holding their annual Easter Egg hunt in Camp King on Monday, 1st April, 2013.
Children aged up to 10 are invited to be at the “Rondell” between the Waldorf school and the Petanque club at 11am.
The Altkönigstraße will be closed between the Theodor-Heuss-Straße and Rotbornstraße from Tuesday, 2nd April until Friday, 31st May, 2013. This is to allow for work on the new swimming pool to take place.
A diversion will be in place via the Theodor-Heuss-Straße, Brüder-Grimm-Straße and Rotbornstraße.
