Two bicycles stolen in one weekend

Two locked up bicycles were recently stolen in the space of one weekend in the town centre.

In one case, a bicycle worth €170 was taken from the bicycle stand at the front of the station building between 8am on Friday, 17th January, 2014 and 12pm the following day.  The bicycle had been chained to the stand.

A bicycle worth €390 was stolen between 7am on Friday, 17th January, 2014 and 9am the next morning from the Holzweg.  This time the bicycle was not only attached to the stand, but the stand was in the yard of a house.

Bicycle stolen at station

A bicycle owner had locked his bicycle to the stand in the Lenaustraße on the Bommersheim side of the station on Tuesday, 19th September, 2013 at 2pm.  When he returned at 3pm, the bicycle was missing.  Is it not yet known how the thieves opened the lock or which direction they went with the bicycle, which police say was worth around €500.

Get on your bike and… go shopping!

With fresh snow on the ground and in some places still falling perhaps going shopping in Oberursel by bicycle was not the most pressing topic for many people last Sunday when the ADFC held their “Tag des Fahrrads” in the Stadthalle.

Over 400 people attended the event – significantly down on the 1,000 that had visited the previous year.

And yet shopping was one of the main topics this year and a debate on the very subject of going shopping by bicycle in Oberursel was held with the chairman of the forum for the self-employed (Fokus-O), Michael Reuter, the Mayor Hans-Georg Brum, Stefan Opitz from the project “Einkaufen-mit-dem-Rad.de” in Darmstadt and local cyclist Helga Hett.
