The stops “Altenwohnanlage” will be replace by a temporary bus stop in the Alter Weg.

The stop “Mittelstedter Straße” will not be serviced, and passengers should use “Niederstedter Straße” instead.

Instead of their normal route, they will travel along the Lange Straße in both directions.  Replacement stops for Kalbacher Straße and Goldackerweg  will be set up near the Burgstraße, Im Ölgarten and Goldackerweg.

The following roads are affected by the closures, even if they are not closed themselves (eg. because of one-way signs or because they become no-through-roads):
  • Füllerstraße
  • Strackgasse
  • Weidengasse
  • Ackergasse
  • Untere Hainstraße
  • Neutorallee
  • Schillierstraße
  • Brüder-Winter-Straße
  • Herzog-Adolf-Straße

The U-Bahn U3 will terminate at “Bahnhof Oberursel” between 8.30am and 2pm.

No U-Bahn or trams in Frankfurt on Wednesday

A strike in Frankfurt will mean that no U-Bahn trains or trams will be running on Wednedsay, 19th March, 2014.  A number of bus routes are also affected.

Some of the bus drivers will also be striking on Thursday and Friday.

Oberursel in particular will be affected by the U-Bahn not running.  To get to Frankfurt the best alternative will probably be the S-Bahn S5.

Changes to bus services

A number of changes have been made to the bus services in Oberursel as a result of new timetables that came into effect on 15th December, 2013.

All of the nr. 41 services are now connected to the nr. 7 services from Bad Homburg and from 2014 this will also service the new hospital being built there.

The evening bus service nr. 45 to Oberstedten has been extended to the Hans-Mess-Straße, where it connects with the new nr. 27 service to Bad Homburg.

On Saturdays and Sundays the nr. 41 service to Weißkirchen-Ost and nr. 42 service to Hauptfriedhof have been adjusted, meaning that there is a bus from Weißkirchen to the town centre approximately every 30 minutes.

The first and last trips of the day to Hauptfriedhof for the nr. 42 buses have been shortened and now terminate at “An der Waldlust”, due to a lack of demand.

Similarly, the stop “An den drei Hasen” will no longer be serviced by buses travelling to Weißkirchen-Ost.

The stop “Oberstedter Straße” has been renamed “Philipp-Reis-Straße” and “Langwiesenweg” has been renamed “Willy-Brandt-Straße“.

13th Rheingau Wine Festival

The 13th Rheingau Wine Festival in Oberursel is being held between Friday 2nd August and Sunday 4th August 2013 on the Marktplatz.

Many of the vineyards at the festival will be familiar to those who have been before, as they have been coming for a number of years and often have their stands in the same place each year.

Visitors can expect to find selected Riesling and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) wines from towns such as Lorch, Hattenheim, Hochheim, Giesenheim, Erbach, Johannisberg and Oestrich-Winkel.

There will also be a variety of food on offer, including Flammkuchen (Tarte Flambee) and (Zwiebelkuchen) Onion cake.

The festival will be officially opened on Friday evening at 6.30pm.

The stands are open on Friday and Saturday from 5pm until 12.30am and on Sunday from 2pm until 11pm. [Read more…]

Can the bus drivers save the kiosk from closure?

The workers’ council (“Betriebsrat”) representing local bus drivers handed in a petition containing 100 signatures to the Mayor of Oberursel, Hans-Georg Brum, against the closure of the kiosk at the town’s main station.

The kiosk is due to close in the middle of December as part of the re-development of the station area, leaving the drivers without a public toilet to use on their routes.  The toilets at the station are too far away, either to leave the bus unattended or for the amount of time that the drivers have when they stop here.

The kiosk serves around 300 people every day, many of whom are waiting for buses or the U-Bahn trains, and has itself collected approximately 1,300 signatures.  “How many signatures does it take before the town’s administration takes notice?”, asked Christoph Alles who runs the kiosk with his wife Daniela.
